The US Treasury Department has sanctioned two individuals and four entities linked to North Korea's alleged crypto theft operations. These actors reportedly infiltrated cryptocurrency firms to divert funds, using stolen US identities and digital assets to finance Pyongyang's weapons programs.

Among those targeted is Song Kum Hyok, a cyber operative tied to North Korea's Andariel hacking unit. The sanctions also extend to Russian facilitator Gayk Asatryan and four Russia-based entities accused of laundering payments for DPRK workers.

The Treasury's action signals Washington's intent to disrupt North Korea's revenue streams for its ballistic missile and WMD programs. "These measures demonstrate our commitment to holding the Kim regime accountable for its illicit financial networks," a Treasury spokesperson stated.
